EFFECTIVE OCT 1, 2008

NEW OFFICE POLICY

Dress Code:

1) You are advised to come to work dressed according to your salary.

2) If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we will assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a raise.

3) If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a raise.

4) If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need a raise.


Sick Days:

We will no longer accept a doctor's statement as proof of sickness. If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

Personal Days:

Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturdays & Sundays.

Bereavement Leave:

This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for dead friends, relatives or co-workers. Every effort should be made to have non-employees attend the funeral arrangements in your place. In rare cases where employee involvement is necessary, the funeral should be scheduled in the late afternoon. We will be glad to allow you to work through your lunch hour and subsequently leave one hour early.

Bathroom Breaks:

Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a strict three-minute time limit in the stalls. At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the stall door will open, and a picture will be taken. After your second offense, your picture will be posted on the company bulletin board under the 'Chronic Offenders' category. Anyone caught smiling in the picture will be sectioned under the company's mental health policy.

Lunch Break: (Love this one)

* Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need to eat more, so that they can look healthy.

* Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch to get a balanced meal to maintain their average figure.

* Chubby people get 5 minutes for lunch, because that's all the time needed to drink a Slim-Fast.

We took some time-off today, and visited Sg Chilling in Kota Kubu Bharu. A place for hiking, and reaching the end you will see water fall. It took you about 54 minutes to 1 hour walk, passed by a total of 6 cross over at the depth of max at your waist.

Prince: Open Letter to Thanks...

Dear all,


I have finally received my confirmation email, and I wish to take this opportunity to thank you all for your blessings all these while.


Judging from my recent appraisal, I realize there are still some rooms for improvement, and I have also promised myself to continue to do so.

Just to give you some light-on; through the past 6 months, I have really learnt far more than I could compare to the last few years.


With my superior constantly guiding me through in every aspect of my works, providing valuable feedback and imparting precious experiences to me; I feel significantly enlightened. This has never happened to me before until I join my current company. I am glad I have made the right choice, finally, (although many have hated me for my decision to move forward!).


I know this ‘confirmation’ is not the end for me yet, as there are many more for me to explore and learn, and improve myself; and I will always uphold my principle, to ‘Always blame my-self’ so that I can constantly look back to my own act for self-improvement. I must also admit that the industry is getting more competitive; thus, we must always speedy up self-improvement, and brush up our attitude and knowledge for the betterment of future. J

Precaution Needed when using PLUS highway

I got this mail forward to me. I'm not sure whether the road condition is not suitable as highlighted, coz I have not drive in this 3 new lanes road since its usage. Based on my little understanding of road safety and pre-mix design, I agreed with what the writer said, when the aggregates mix is too fine, the grips between tire and road surface will reduce. So be-careful when driving in these roads, especially when its wet.

Dear TV3 and The Star,

I am a frequent user of our North-South Expressway and I have this IMPORTANT experience to highlight and share:-

I was driving back to Penang yesterday afternoon (24 June 08) when I saw the unfortunate accident in the opposite direction involving the passenger bus that skidded and overturned at Tanjung Malim. I didn't know that the skidded bus was from hometown Penang until I watched TV3 news later in the evening and was shocked to learn that the accident took two lives.

Now, this is what I need to share:-

I am a building contractor with over twenty years of experience and I have been driving my 5 series BMW (latest generation and a dammed solid road holding car) each time I travelled to KL. Lately, the new extended 3 lanes highway had been opened up for use and since then, I have also been using it quite oftenly.

HOWEVER, when I used it each time it is WET, I can really 'feel' that the new road surface is extremely SLIPPERY! To share with some of you, my car comes with a built-in traction control mechanism (skidding preventionmechanism) and you can feel it each time it is activated. Previously, I don't come across this kind of slippery feel except when I drive over a paddle of water at certain speed.

From my observation as a building contractor, the 'wearing course' of the new road surface could be TOO FINE OR TOO SMOOTH and TOTALLY UNSUITABLE for highway use!
The wearing course (top premix layer) mix design for highways should be of minimum 20mm coarse aggregate mix that will give us the required bond between the surface and our tires. Fine wearing course (14mm coarse aggregate size and below) is only suitable for normal road. (A proper test need to be carried out to determine the mix design of the wearing course).

Since the opening of the three lanes highway, I had seen cars skidding in front me or in the opposite direction and approximately 2 weeks ago, one of my friends who is also a frequent user of our NSE, came to share with me about his slippery feeling as well as the many skidded cars he had seen lately.

I am highlighting this to TV3 and The Star with the hope that a thorough investigation could be carried out immediately to find out how or what causes the bus to skid. A proper and independent test need to be carried out urgently to determine the design mix of the wearing course. THIS CAN SAVE LIVES.

Strategic initiatives are always from the frontline manager who is close to the market, technology, and day to day operation…that is where the Strategic intention is formed, and as it proceeds, it shall receive necessary support from middle managers; where middle managers are obliged to put their reputation for good judgment, and subsequently, based on middle manager’s conceptual, political, and persuasive capability to convince their top management.

Top management involvement is only to set the structural organization flow that allows the development of strategy by managers from the bottom to the top. Each structural processing stage will refine the strategic concept. Eventually, the strategy concept that placed on the desk of top management should close to 100% refined concept, and that means all ‘scavenger’ jobs are already done to cover hidden issues behind the concept ,and solution is proposed for the set strategic concept!

Prince: Attitude, Skill, Knowledge



Perfect Situation:

Under the perfect situation, organization’s hiring process ensures only those who move long the linear is hired. This pool of professionals is supposed to equip with a balance of attitude, skill, and knowledge, and they learned as they move up the corporate ladder. They improved as they assume different position under different environment that requires different set of skills and attitudes. People of such learn and improved by their will to change for better…these are also driven partly by organization’s vision to improve employees’ skills and attitude through differentiated development program.

However, People of this type are difficult to seek for. It is almost impossible to strike a balance in this universe because human being is unique, and is being exposed to different upbringing. All these mould the attitude, and experience of people in the universe; at which determine the set of thinking carries along with them, and is most commonly termed, are ‘positive thinking’, and ‘negative thinking’. Both will lead the attitude building of people since young…

Preferred Situation:

Since it is difficult to get ‘perfection’; the most preferred situation is those with good attitude. Most organization preferred this option because attitude is difficult to mould; unlike Skills and Knowledge where you can learn on the job. Attitude followed a person since young and it takes exceptional self-realization, and courage to change. Furthermore, organization isn’t willing to spend exceptional more in attitude correction program where usually ineffectual.

Disastrous Situation:

It happens mostly in organization that has no proper screening process; those with high skills and knowledge but worse rated for attitude. Organization occupied with high number of these people will result to high turnover. People of such find difficult to work in a team, not receptive towards new ideas, and often cornered themselves from others. They are likely to keep their skills and knowledge in “safe box” as a way to protect their comfort zone.

Some frustrations I face in work, and I intend to reform, and I am facing thousand obstacles! It is not easy to do ‘change’; and change comes with risk, the risk of dwelling into organizational political struggle, emotional negatively heightened, hatred, jealousy, all you can name…I’ve experienced a few most frustrated issues as below for sharing…







100% ‘reliability’…”you’ve got the data, you tell me, I can’t tell because I don’t know”.…”you’ve got it perfectly right

–“ I don’t know”…; well, ‘I don’t know’ if a good answer…


People just like to get an easy way out of difficult task when they know nuts. Exactly! They know nothing and they aren’t willing to learn; the short-cut is to push it to people…that’s exactly the issue here…What’ wrong with

those people, organization pays for your experience…and yet, you are bluffing around…


100% resistance?…quite there, buddy; very resistant; Yes; …No, it is impossible, No, it can’t do, No, it is not effective, No, its too shallow…No, No, No…; what a good answer…


People are too highly confident to themselves, and they tend to ignore new

idea. They are simply resistant to change, and even when ‘change’ is needed. This is a very difficult question to address, because sometimes it is right to disagree, but sometimes it is because of their cognitive experience stopping them from taking new initiative…that’s exactly the issue here…

nagement, it is the department’sfault, we’ve done everything we could, and it is not our call…; what a great culture we

have


Such an easy way out, finger-pointing culture is a much differentiated culture, we must admit that, but finger pointing culture can not take you in your long journey. When you point your finger, 4 others fingers are pointing back to yourself… pushing ‘shit’ to people isn’t going to help…it still makes you smelly like ‘shit’…





Oh, they can’t do it, so we have to do it for them…what a great idea!


Helping team member is one way to build team spirit, and helping without educating is bad. We should always try to teach people how to fish, and not fish for them…unfortunately; this is it...how it works there…






Oh, I’ve just spent a million dollar, but I am not sure what’ve gone wrong, where’ve gone wrong; but I know something wrong…oh, could that be your direction...? What a wonderful inspiration…



Shit, we don’t know what hit us out there! Oh, no! May be we are going the wrong direction, that’s why we got hit! But we could have dodged! Oh, no! They can’t just give direction; they should also tell us how to dodge! It wasn’t there!
