I went back hometown during Festive Season, & glad to experience many changes on my own sweet land. However, There's one thing that amaze me the most-with no change at all, are the 'flood'! I have been staying here for more than 10 years & the flood problem has been with me since then. Feeling unbearable, frustatred & hitting the max of disappointment, I crafted the letter again, channelling to all available media around town, as below...
******************************
"10 years residing in Taman Bunga Raya, has given us many good memories, but turns into a nightmare when it rains. Flood has even become a norm to us, which none is care to fight for constructive solution anymore. We would say, our frustration has put our plight under the sod.
Nothing is worse than our confidence being shattered each ‘rains’ the god has brought to us and it is even frustrating to gaze at our plight linger-on for 10 years without being addressed properly since we first lodge our grievance, and was carried by The Press in year 2004.
We have been through 10 years of difficulties, and experience the flood problem to be worsening year by year. When we first experience flood, the water level covered only the road and has never swept our house.
A year later, the water level started to surge our corridor, and we voiced our problem to the authorities. However, nothing was done, and currently, the situation is worsen as the water starts to sweep our house and flood the whole road every rains; even only drizzling!
I reproach MPKS for their inefficiency & incapability in solving our nightmare. It is axiomatic that MPKS is careless about our situation, not even when it was brought alight by the media.
I would like to highlight our problem to MPKS again, and to those who concern. It is very disappointed & frustrated to experience the inefficiency of MPKS and the related authorities.
Our residential area has suffered from Flood problem for 10 years and; promises have been made again and again by MPKS and the representatives from Alor Setar MCA department. However, we do not see any work done by both parties to solve our problem.
The flood started 10 years ago, when the first construction project took place for “Happy Garden” behind our residential area. We had highlighted our problem to the authority (MPKS) and MCA representatives, but were told to be patient, as the flood was a result from the construction project; and it will end in a month or two. Somehow, we waited, and the construction ended. But our problem was yet addressed.
We have even highlighted our problem to MCA representative during our annual ‘Ghost Festive Dinner’ and also to the committees of our Residential Hall. But nothing was heard.
When we last lodge our report that carried by press in year 2004, we were being informed of the progress of ‘water pump construction’ by the government to solve the flood issues; and yet, the problem still exist.
We surprisingly realized that we were being consoled with excuses all these while, and we can’t wait to hear the ‘solution’ again.
Excuses 1: Construction of Happy Garden
Excuses 2: Building of Pump to solve the issues
Excuses 3: ?
We have taken the courtesy to snap our plight for your review; this is the most recent flood, and I can ensure you that these pictures can be updated whenever it rains, because it will always be the same problem; the same frustration we have suffered for 10 years.
We would like to plead to the authorities, to shed light on our problem; to give us solution instead of excuses. I believe we should not foster “inefficiency” if we want to achieve “Kedah Maju 2010”.
