Prince Thought of Character Development...

For children, character development is part and parcel of Early Childhood Education; it helps to shape the children’s character and prepared them to function well in the society in future. Not to forgone adult, who may eventually need character development as well. Nevertheless, Character Development needs implementation in two-fold, firstly, it targets at those newly enroll children into kindergarten, secondly, to help those, whom, character has been shaped and developed in their own way with own definition, but to be reminded, gradually, character will become tougher to shape or reshape when moving into adult age.

Training program has received a boom in the marketplace nowadays, especially, Human Resource Practitioners believe that training program is a need, and become a must for problem employees; meanwhile, it also becomes a motivation program for their employees. The fundamental question posted, is the effectiveness of the training program for human being, in helping to shape their character.

It is a great challenge to shape human character / behavior at adult age, especially when they have been taught to behave with their own definition of ‘correct’ way. Training program that focuses on character building and team building are merely an inspiration seminar for those participants that do not really help to shape them. Character building needs constant reinforcement, whereby, it must deeply penetrate the life of an employee, it helps to act as reinforcement and reminder of change, at which is not offered in a seminar.

Many character building program fails because it is merely an inspiration seminar for those involves, and it takes a tickle to feel and to forget. They do not have the persistency to adopt change personally, and thus, falling back their own character pathway. To make matter worse, when reinforcement eventually becomes their annoyance, and they will not appreciate it anymore.

Human is always acting on self-force, whereby, they can change if only, they are willing to change, and they have to question themselves what they have to perform in order to change. Training seminar is merely an inspiring seminar for the change adopters, or sometimes merely acting as reinforcement.

As long as there is a will, there is a way, in human character development process, is a learning process, and need high level of self-conscious. There is no need for motivation seminar, character building seminar, teamwork seminar or many more, because human is a born learners. The fundamental believes in learners, is learning force should generate from inside out, not from outside in. Most seminars are adopting an ‘outside in’ training methodology which does not generate impact, instead it is merely an inspiration stories for the learners.

Human being can learn about leadership from book, receive motivation from life experience, for example, optimistic can become a force of motivation, and optimistic is a subjective knowledge that form from inside of a human being without the need to go for training, the most they can do, is to learn from a book ‘how to become optimistic’, and they can change if only they really desire for a change!

P/S: this feedback was written after listening to a friend of prince, who attended some soft of motivation and life-challenging seminar, and can’t stop praising the great talent of the speakers, and creativity of the company itself.
