Prince: Resignation Vs Appraisal

A newly-joined trainee engineer asks his boss -- “What is the meaning of appraisal?"

Boss: "Do you know the meaning of resignation?”

Trainee:
"Yes, I do.”

Boss:
“So let me make you understand what an appraisal is by comparing it with resignation."

In an appraisal meeting they will speak only about your weakness, errors and failures.

In a resignation meeting they will speak only about your strengths, past achievements and success. During an appraisal you may need to cry and beg for even a 10% pay hike.

In a resignation meeting you can easily demand (or get more without asking) more than 50-60% pay-hike! During an appraisal, they will DENY promotion saying that you did not meet the expectation, you don't have leadership qualities, and that you had several drawbacks in reaching objective/goal.

During resignation, they'll say you are the core member of the team; that you are the vision of the company, and so “How can you go?” You have to take the project on your shoulders and lead your juniors to success.

There is a 90% chance of NOT getting any significant incentives after appraisal.

There is a 90% chance of getting an IEEMDIATE PAY-HIKE after you put in your resignation.

Trainee: “Yes, boss, well enough. Now I know what to do; when you are about to do my appraisal, I will resign.”

Prince: Food Poisoning...

See the bunch of medicine I need to take after months of slavish devotion to my job!

Prince: I decided to go...because ...

Work is shit!
Especially when your boss is a smart ass and stubborn!
Careless about employees’ feeling!
Think what’s right is right!
No ground of bargaining or objection!
He is so right, we’re so wrong!
Constantly apologise after smiting on table!
What an impatient creatures!
Emotionally carries away!
Stingy poke!

Prince: What a boss...

We conduct morning study as usual, reading the ‘Kotler’ marketing text book in office. Yeah, No one like the idea as if we are back to the ‘past’, and constantly remind us about our college study. But my boss seems to like it very much. It seems that he has to tortured us every morning before we go on working, and gives us some difficult question to answer which sometimes not even applicable in the company.

What’s new today then…After we go through the chapter, and come across a word about ‘Customer Life time Value’, ‘how do we calculate customer life time value?’ he asked.

‘It can be done with Net present value to discount back the cost’, I answered according to the book written.

‘Yes, I know, then what is Net present value’, he asked firmly.

‘The value at this moment’, I answered.

‘Wrong! Sze, try out’, he pointed to my colleague.

And all seems wrong to him, he starts to criticize us again, ‘as a professional, you must understand the term! You are a MBA holder you know, what about Sze? Degree holder?’ He said with sense of sarcasm.

Prince: Mad, be Mad!

I certainly can’t imagine myself still awake trying to finish my work!

It is difficult to comprehend why 100 millions products would need only 2 persons in a department… in one way it shows we are capable of performing, the others way - cut cost, and it means – depriving of our personal time! It eats away our leisure! It drives you insane eventually! This is it, if you are running out of luck…

(The so many months of the year as today the same as usual!)

Prince: What a day...

Don’t feel like working today though ton of work waiting for me. Wake up in the morning swarm with the lazy reflection of mine; I decided to give myself a break after 4 months of working weekend at home and office. I went for shopping with my wifey at Low Yatt (coz I wish to purchase something for my laptop), and I finally spent RM 600 buck for my laptop accessories, hence you can assume that my laptop is more like my baby!

Arrived home in late afternoon, feeling guilty of not working, and I decided to plan my schedule for tomorrow. I’ve got to finish my work tomorrow, especially the presentation material for Tuesday. You may wonder why I would need to prepare Tuesday presentation so many days earlier. Well, no one know myself better than I do, Others may spend 2 days to complete a task, but I would need double! Not that I am incapable, but I am slow due to my little experience in this line. That explains all…And, even though I schedule earlier to cover my ‘weaknesses’ but eventually it becomes a merit on me because people sees me as a man with proper planning! That explains…
