Prince: Take the risk for Company...

Having an inconsiderate boss is really a pain in the ass, and they always put their nose on top of everyone, and never walk down to earth! They like to make ad-hominem decision, believing that people should do / should be able to do whatever they want to do with short-notice given.

Sigh! I was asked to conduct a survey in the mall, this decision was made a day before the survey, and, I was involved not because It is part of my duty, but is because I have to replace one of the promoters who absent from work (which is also not part of my jurisdiction!).

Each promoter will have to collect 100 respondents in 2 days (which is impossible to be done in-store level). I know the impossibilities but to abide by seniority’s instruction! And, to make thing possible, I pull-in 2 other colleagues of mine for the research of 100 respondents, however, each of us are given 100 pieces of survey questions at the end; that’s mean, we have to do an additional 200 respondents instead of the previous 100 given. (That’s how greedy my…..damn…is!)

Now, conducting a survey isn’t a hard task, but under this circumstance is impossible, why:-

a) Promoters are on-duty to sell & do merchandising work in store, and they have got a monthly target to achieve; these surveys will take up 99% of their time from their official duty, and it is Saturday & Sunday, weekend sales is important for promoters!

b) Performing in-store survey needs permission from buyers, or otherwise, promoters will be dislodged from store if caught; this is a risky ad-hoc survey!

c) 3 of us were asked to perform the survey in Mid Valley, and my experience told me that the management has got to seek permission from Mid Valley for this type of research, or other wise the security will warn you & chase you out of the mall; worse still, the security has the right to detain you in the mall. (The fact is we did encounter a few staffs in Mid Valley, and were warned to stop the research!)

We decided to stay out of the mall & went straight to Kota Raya & Central Market; I understand that these 2 locations are public areas and are legal unless you are a cause of nuisance. We manage to collect 56 respondents eventually, and left. Although, we did not collect the given amount of respondents but we are prepared for the argument.
