Animal or TREE...

I attended my HRM MBA class on Saturday, and our lecturer Miss Choo, who used to work as the senior management in HSBC bank in Malaysia. “I like to ask personality question when in an interview, I tend to ask the interviewee to write a short essay of what they prefer to be, if they were given ‘a tree or an animal’, and you will find the answer vary according to individual”, Choo said.

Choo related her experience to us, she interviewed a lady at her twenties, and the similar question was asked. The lady preferred to be an animal and the reason was that she want to go around and pee at those tree instead of standing all alone at one place, in her essay, she said she want to be the top of all, controlling the entire tree, and not being controlled. To her surprise, the lady made it to the top management within two years time, with a proven sales record. She made cold call, pitch sales and many more.

If you are given a choice, would you like to be a tree or animal? Again, there is no right or wrong answer. If you prefer to be a tree, you may be suitable for job that is less challenging, meanwhile, if you choose an animal, and then an office job may not match your personality. Personally, I prefer to be animal, if it is a tricky question, I prefer to be HUMAN……
